Local Tournaments
Local Tournaments are a great way to test your skills and see how far you’ve come in your personal Taekwon-do journey! Competing with students from other studios and schools gives everyone a bigger understanding of where they’re at, and a great way to make lasting connections! Make new friends, see new places and of course coming home with a shiny medal is a great plus!
Team USA
Poteet Martial Arts have had competitors and coaches on Team USA in 2015,2017,2019. Our students have all come home with medals to show off how well they did!
World Cup
Slovenia 2022 was the first time Poteet Martial Arts attended a World Cup event. We had Coaches, Competitors, Coaches who doubled as Competitors all attended and did an amazing job! We’re looking forward to Argentina 2024, and one of our head instructors has been given the wonderful opportunity to attend as an Umpire!
WAKO
We’re fairly new to WAKO Kickboxing but that hasn’t stopped us from bringing back medals! Both our Juniors and Seniors showed of their Posse Pride in 2023 and will be doing so again in 2024!
Mr. Philip Schlabach started training in ITF Taekwondo in May of 2009 at Cross Martial Arts Center of Midlothian, Tx, where he earned the rank of red belt. Mr. Schlabach started training at Poteet Martial Arts in October of 2013 and earned his black belt on August 23, 2014. He competed at the 2014 USA National Championship where he won 3rd in the nation for Men’s Middle Weight Sparring. The following week, Mr. Schlabach was asked to be a Coach for Team USA for the 2015 Taekwondo World Championship in Italy. He coached 7 events in 3 different categories. After becoming a USA team coach, he began instructing at Poteet Martial Arts, something he currently does to this day.
