This year we are excited to announce that our tournament will be a two day event! Saturday 9/14/24 will be our ITF Taekwon-Do Tournament will Sunday 9/15/24 will be our first ever WAKO USA Kickboxing Tournament!!
If you enjoy Patterns, Sparring, Power Breaking, Kickboxing, Point Fighting, whether it is one event or all, we will ensure you have competition to go with!
Not interesting in competing but still want to help out? Red Belts and Black Belts are welcome to register as an umpire or official. All who do will receive a $10 voucher to use at our concessions stand.
There will be a concession stand out front with drinks, snacks and lunch options benefiting North Texas ITF Taekwon-Do, 501c3 Saturday and Sunday.
Tournament shirts will be available at the venue.

All Red and Black Belts, and Umpires/Officials should plan to assist with officiating. All who are registered as an umpire/official and attend the umpire meeting at 8:30 am will be awarded $10 lunch vouchers to use at the concession stand. All umpires need to dress in either full dobok, team tracksuit/club shirt, black slacks with WAKO official shirt or suit with blue tie. (there will be a meeting on both Saturday and Sunday for that day of competition)
The tournament host reserves the right to make modifications to divisions as needed prior to and during the event to ensure a good experience for the competitors.

ITF Patterns divisions will be divided in male/female categories in both color belt and black belt divisions. Age groups: 4-7, 8-12, 13-17, 18-39, 40+. Color belts = 1 optional pattern, may begin again with official request. Black belts = 1 optional and 1 designated pattern, may not begin again. Patterns will be performed head-to-head. Designated patterns will be assigned by Jury President – from lowest rank competitor in group or below).
ITF Sparring divisions will be divided in male/female categories in both color belt and black belt divisions. Age groups: 4-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-17, 18-39, 40+. Black belt divisions will have 4 weight categories. Male -140 pounds, 140.1-170 pounds, 170.1 – 200 pounds, 200 + pounds, Female -100 pounds, 100.1- 125 pounds, 125.1 -150 pounds, 150 + pounds. ITF Rules – 2 Minute Continuous Sparring (headgear & closed finger gloves mandatory, groin protection male required, shin guards optional, face, chest and arm protection not allowed. Sports glasses allowed); Black Belt 1st/2ndplace = 2/2 minute rounds.
ITF Power Breaking divisions will be divided in male/female categories in both color belt and black belt divisions. Age groups: 4-7, 8-10, 9-11, 11-14, 15-17, 18-39, 40+. Power Breaking:
All – Side Kick (Standing/Skipping/Jumping) and Knife Hand Strike (Inward or Outward) Only – 1 attempt only, 1 measure only, begin and end in guarding block.
Color belts – choice of boards
We have a choice of rebreakable boards in white – 1 point, yellow – 2 points, green – 4 points, blue – 6 points, black – eight points. The 1 point white is safe for smaller kids’ hand break.
Black belts – assigned boards
Pre-Junior female (up to 14): hand 1 green, foot 1 international white
Pre-Junior male (up to 14): hand 2 green, foot 1 international white
Junior female (15-17): hand 2 green hand, foot 1 international white
Junior male (15-17): hand 1 international white, foot 2 international white
Adult Female (18-39): hand 1 international white, foot 2 international white
Adult Male (18-39): hand 2 international white, foot 3 international white
Veterans over 40 Female: hand 1 international white, foot 2 international white
Veterans over 40 Male: hand 2 international white, foot 3 international white.
Adaptive & Color Belts:
1st/2nd/3rd & Alternate Bronze awarded in all Color belt events with 4 or more competitors. 1 overall Color Belt Male & Female Grand Champion, must compete in all three categories: patterns, power breaking, and sparring to be eligible for Grand Champion. Belt Buckles will be awarded.
Black Belts:
1st/2nd/3rd places awarded in Black Belt events, regardless of bracket sizes. 8 categories of Grand Champion awarded to Black Belts – Pre-Junior Male & Female (up to 14) Junior Male & Female (15- 17), Adult Male & Female (ages 18 – 40), Senior Male & Female (ages 40+). Must compete in all three categories: patterns, power breaking, and sparring to be eligible for Grand Champion. Hats will be awarded.
In the event of a Grand Champion tie, Jury Presidents will vote between competitors on best overall performance.
In the event of a tie for power breaking we will add a board to the tied foot break until we have a winner.

Color Belt Chon-Ji Challenge (Male & Female 10th-1st gup)
Black Belt Chon-Ji Challenge (Male & Female 1st – 6th dan)
Adaptive Special Needs Chon-Ji Challenge (Male & Female – all ranks)
Chon-Ji Challenge: 1 trophy awarded for each division. #’s are assigned to those competing, #’s will be drawn, competitors go head-to-head with a panel of our highest-ranking officials, 1 will advance, 1 will not, numbers are kept, and we keep going until we have our Champion in each division.
All Adaptive Special Needs Competitors please message event host to be bracketed properly.

Full ITF white dobok with belt required for all competitors in all categories. Undershirt is optional for male competitors. ITF continuous sparring will require closed finger gloves, helmet, mouth guard, groin protection (male), shin guards are optional. No chest or arm protection or face shields allowed. Protective goggles for glasses are allowed.

disciplines point fighting.
YOUNGER CADETS Category (YC): 10, 11 and 12 years old. The age group is determined by the
year of birth. In the year of the competition, the kickboxer can be 10, 11 and 12 years old. Younger
cadets can participate in tatami disciplines point fighting.
OLDER CADETS Category (OC): 13, 14 and 15 years old. The age group is determined by the
year of birth. In the year of the competition, the kickboxer can be 13, 14 and 15 years old. Older
cadets can participate in tatami disciplines point fighting, light contact, kick light.
JUNIORS Category (J): 16, 17 and 18 years old. The age group is determined by the year of birth.
In the year of the competition, the kickboxer can be 16, 17 and 18 years old. Juniors can participate
in tatami disciplines point fighting, light contact, kick light.
SENIORS category (S): 19 to 40 years old. The age group is determined by the year of birth. In the
year of the competition, the kickboxer can be from 19 to 40 years old. Seniors can participate in tatami disciplines: point fighting, light contact and kick light.
MASTER CLASS (VETERANS) category (V): 41 to 55 years old. The age group is determined by the
year of birth. In the year of the competition, the kickboxer can be from 41 to 55 years old. Master class
(veterans). Veterans can participate in tatami disciplines: point fighting, light contact and kick light.
Older Cadets, Juniors, Seniors and Veterans Kick Light and Light Contact weight categories:
Male -140 pounds, 140.1-170 pounds, 170.1 – 200 pounds, 200 + pounds, Female -100 pounds, 100.1- 125 pounds, 125.1 -150 pounds, 150 + pounds.
There will be intermittent WAKO ring exhibitions matches in Full Contact and Low Kick on Sunday. Please message tournament host if you want to participate in an exhibition match.
