Mr. Philip Schlabach started training in ITF Taekwondo in May of 2009 at Cross Martial Arts Center of Midlothian, Tx, where he earned the rank of red belt. Mr. Schlabach started training at Poteet Martial Arts in October of 2013 and earned his black belt on August 23, 2014. He competed at the 2014 USA National Championship where he won 3rd in the nation for Men’s Middle Weight Sparring. The following week, Mr. Schlabach was asked to be a Coach for Team USA for the 2015 Taekwondo World Championship in Italy. He coached 7 events in 3 different categories. After becoming a USA team coach, he began instructing at Poteet Martial Arts, something he currently does to this day.
In March of 2017, Mr. Schlabach competed once again at the USA National Chamionship, and earned 6th in the nation in Men’s Middle Weight Sparring. A few months later he graduated from Arlington Baptist University with his bachelor’s degree. In October 2017, he once again coached on Team USA in Dublion Ireland, for the World Championship, this time for 9 events in 2 categories.
Mr. Schlabach is currently a 3rd Dan, and has plans to compete in World Cup Argentina, 2024.
Mr. Jason Allen started training in ITF Taekwondo at Cross Martial Arts Center of Midlothian, Texas, where he earned the rank of 2nd Dan in August of 2012. He became interested in Taekwondo after his sons, Jackson and Jaycee, started training in 2005. Jason began teaching the family class and the advanced class at Cross Martial Arts when he achieved his 1st Dan in August 2010. Mr. Allen started training at Poteet Martial Arts in October of 2013. He has completed the IIC in Denver in 2010 and At sea in 2016. He teaches the Special Needs class with Mrs. Poteet.
In addition to Taekwondo, Mr. Allen is a Platform Tech Lead at Southwest Airlines. He served in the Air Force as active duty from 1992-2000 and reserve from 2000-2002. He was stationed at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX, Rhein-Mein Air Force Base in Germany, and lastly, Altus, Oklahoma. He is a native of Midlothian, TX and a graduate of 1992. He received his Associates in Science in 2009 from Navarro College. Mr. Allen also spent time coaching both of his sons soccer teams from 2000-2009. He is also a pen pal to Amni in Mali, Africa who is 11 and shares his birth date. This is a ministry through World Vision.
Mr. Jason Allen has been married to Becky since 1992 and they have two sons, Jaycee and Jackson, who are also black belts in ITF Taekwondo. He enjoys computers, Sci-Fi shows, spending time with his family, and traveling. Mr. Jason is currently a 3rd Degree Black Belt.
Mr. Jaycee Allen began his martial arts journey in 2005 at Cross Martial Arts Center. He is certified instructor by the International Taekwon-Do Federation and currently holds the rank of 5th degree black belt.
With over 5 years of teaching martial art teaching experience, Mr.Allen has won several medals at local tournaments including the Midlothian Invitational Men Black Belt Grand Champion(2012).
Outside Taekwon-Do, Mr. Allen has experience in law enforcement, corrections, and private security. Currently Mr. Allen carries a Level IV(PPO) security license.
Miss Ashley Baker began her Taekwondo-Do journey in 2016 under Poteet Martial Arts. She is 3rd Degree Black Belt. Ashley started teaching in 2019, and had continued to teach since then. She is one of Poteet Martial Arts international competitors, and has competed in the Taekwon-Do World Cup 2022 in Slovenia. She hopes to continue competing internationally as her Taekwon-Do journey continues.
Ashley graduated from UTA in 2021 with a bachelor’s of science in software engineering. She currently works full time with an engineering company, and commits her after work hours to Taekwon-Do training.
Lillian began her training in ITF Taekwon-Do at Cross Martial Arts Center of Midlothian, Texas at the age of nine in 2008, where she eventually earned her first degree black belt. She began attending Poteet Martial Arts when the studio moved to its Midlothian location, and has since continued to progress under the Poteet’s all the way to her fourth degree black belt in 2020. She has competed in two World Championships, Ireland in 2017 and Germany in 2019, where she participated in sparring, team power breaking, and team specialty events. In 2019 she was part of the Women’s team representing the United States that won Silver in Team Power Breaking. Lillian has been teaching classes since 2016, with a break from 2018 to mid 2020 while she earned a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics at the University of North Texas in Denton. She currently works for a small tax and bookkeeping firm in Fort Worth.
Mr. Archer started his TaeKwon-Do journey at the age of 10 in Houston, Texas. Up until 2018 he was student under Master Denny before moving to Dallas, Texas. Mr. Archer has been practicing TaeKwon-Do for 17 years now and is a Texas Tech University graduate with a B.B.A in Finance.
Mr. Archer earned his first degree black belt in March 2006 and most recently has become a fifth degree black belt in August 2018. Along the way, he has earned many medals at various tournaments. Most notably, in 2006 he earned National’s silver medal in Junior Lightweight Sparring at the age of 13 and a bronze medal at World Cup in the same category later that year. Since entering the adult division Mr. Archer has competed in two world championships (Ireland 2017 and Germany 2019) in sparring, patterns and power breaking. Both years he was also selected for the USA Power Breaking team. Mr. Archer was an assistant-teacher for many years for Eagle Tae Kwon-Do under Master Denny and now a Lead Instructor at Poteet Martial Arts.
Mrs. Annette Poteet began her martial arts path in 2006. She currently holds the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt and is certified by the International Taekwon-Do Federation. Mrs. Poteet was the Houston Invitational Taekwon-Do Tournament (HITT) Senior Female Grand Champion in 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2018. In 2014, Mrs. Poteet was the Women’s National Champion in Power Breaking and National Champion in Women’s Hyper Weight Sparring at the National Qualifiers. In 2015 she competed on Team USA and served as one of the Team USA Coaches and Managers. In 2017 she served as one of the Team USA Coaches and coached the Senior Women’s Team. She also was a 2019 Team USA Coach, Senior Women’s Team Coach, and Manager. Mrs. Annette Poteet coached and competed at the 2022 ITF World Cup in Koper Slovenia. She won World Cup Champion in both women’s Veteran’s Power Breaking and Sparring.
Mrs. Poteet attended the 2nd ITF Coaches Conference in Limerick, Ireland in July 2023. Additionally, she was a participant in the first Coach Developer Course for the ITF by Sport Ireland in Limerick Ireland June – July 2023. She is a current member of the ITF America Coaches’ Committee. Mrs. Poteet holds an A.S. in Kinesiology from Navarro College and a B.G.S. from TAMU-Commerce and has received her M.B.A. from TAMU-Commerce. She received her Class B Umpire certification in 2022.
Mr. Chris Poteet, Chief Instructor, began his martial arts journey in 2004. He currently holds the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt and is certified by the International Taekwon-Do Federation. Mr. Poteet has won many awards during his martial arts career: Southwest Fall Invitation Senior Male Grand Champion (2008 & 2013), Houston Invitational Taekwon-Do Tournament Senior Male Grand Champion (2010), Cypress Invitational Senior Male Grand Champion (2013), and Austin State Tournament Senior Male Grand Champion (2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018). Mr. Poteet completed his Umpire’s Class B certification in 2011 and Class A in 2018. He served as one of the 2015 Team USA Coaches and Managers and in 2017 served as one of the Team USA Coaches and coached the Junior Men’s Team. Mr. Chris is the 2019 Team USA Coach, Senior Men’s Team Coach, and Manager. Mr. Chris Poteet was head Coach for Team Poteet Posse at the 2022 World Cup in Finland. Mr. Poteet was selected as an Umpire at the 2023 ITF World Championships in Tempere, Finland. He is a current member of the ITF America Ethics Committee.
